Lack of a generic integration mechanisms have long restricted Universities in adopting suitable solutions to achieve a seamless teaching and learning experience.

 

Tightly coupled data integration, user interfaces and services were limiting the efficiency of the learning experience. Thus, Architecting the Education Delivery has been trending lately in the Education Industry. In the Asia Pacific, a University has taken up the initiative of re-imagining their Course Delivery.

 

Their major challenge was to maintain learning environments that are able to cope with increasingly diverse contents, tools and technologies.

 

A Learning Platform was developed based on 3-tier architecture; Presentation, Aggregation and Service tiers. 

 

Learning processes encapsulated in respective learning solutions in Service tier were aggregated via open API libraries in Aggregation tier to deliver cohesive learning experience.

 

Components were loosely coupled to the rest of the platform to support aggregated services and operate as independent modules. 

 

The benefits were significant. This has enabled them to rapidly adopt new learning technologies. Content delivery leverages a blend of learning strategies to enhance the teaching and learning experience.  It supports delivery of learning content according to the approach identified for a particular course. 

 

Targeted contents are presented in a course dashboard based on defined roles. Students are able to view personalised learning plan, course engagement, recommended content by the faculty and peers, and other useful information related to the course.
